I think I speak at everyone's behalf when I say: GET SOME SLEEP!!! anyway, I'm trying to come up with a few ideas myself, the simplest of which so far is to pan from a window to a TV screen showing white noise all the time while hearing people outside the house (supposedly through the window) screaming... So this is more of a sound effect trailer than it is a REAL one...this is more of a TEASER... we fade out and the writing appears: "The Coming - thecoming.iodrakon.com" I think that should be good enough for a tease? anybody (dis)agrees?

It's a gr8 place to film a lot of people reacting to something... gr8 thinking Matt. If they need convincing just tell them they'll be in the credits (and they will). Oded.

Go for it Matt! make sure you shmooze them a lot with details on the project and how many people are involved internationally etc etc etc... and promise them screen credit, that usually does the trick. Oded.

Another trailer idea came to my mind : remembering a geographical / astral Phenomena some years ago, that everyone watched with sunglasses : The darkening of the sun from the moon. The best pictures shot in the newspapers were all these people gathering into the sky with special glasses and looking very excited. We could take short film sequences of people watching something in the sky , fast turning to the next group of people looking , and the next... never showing what they look at, and then show the logo with an orchestral sound :" THE COMING " Undertitle : "Coming soon to Your cinemas" What do You all think about that ? Critics wanted. Nina

I think it makes an interesting start point for a trailer idea... but don't you think just showing people watching the skies is a bit too...revealing and fixes the audience's mind on the idea that whatever is coming is coming from the skies? How about people protasting or celebrating...maybe intercutting between both types of gathering and then freeze framing on a sign that says "it's coming..." or "it's almost here..." then FADE OUT and show the title "soon" the end... how's that?

You are right. It would be focused too much on the skies. To show people in different situations, gathering at an unseen thing is more interesting and could be used for differnt types of trailers.

You are right. It would be focused too much on the skies. To show people in different situations, gathering at an unseen thing is more interesting and could be used for differnt types of trailers. Seahorse It would also be fun to show the people gathering astonished into the camera, as if the filming person was an alien. I am just thinking of the effect of it as an eyecatcher. If people sit in the cinema and are wondering, what this film will be about. I am against the idea to make it too unclear that it is a movie. To make it unclear "What is coming " is a different question. This I appreciate. But if we go too much away from the message " This is a movie ", no one will go to the cinema and buy a ticket for it. I don´t want the people to be confused, going to some fields outside waiting for " THE COMING ". I want them to go to the cinema to see there what different directors think about " THE COMING ". So I would not focuse on being too direct in the subject " What is coming ", but in the objective " Go to the cinemas and see what other thought about it there ". If we don´t do that we get a hell lot of mediamatic attention for the subject, but no one will go into the cinemas, buy a ticket and we won´t even get our credits for it. I am sure no film maker wants that. Am I right ? Seahorse

Hi Nina, I think you took what I meant by "|keeping it unclear" one step too far - what I originally meant was for us to play around the "is it or isn't it a movie" thing as a part of our INITIAL marketing campaign. The idea was to, at first, try and make it look like something real but then - when the film is done and we're ready to screen it come out with the truth and introduce "The Coming" as what it really is - a truely unique project that signifies the new wave of independent filmmaking in the internet age. Does this sound better? AND BESIDES, it was only one idea. I didn't say THAT'S HOW WE'RE GONNA DO IT...I was just raising it as an issue for debate. Anyway, good news guys, a friend of a friend works for a large TV station here in israel and he heard about the project (don't ask me how, maybe in an israeli forum I posted on...) and wants me to come on the biggest entertainment show in Israel whenever I feel I want to unvail this project...anyway, I explained to him that this is supposed to be under covers for now and that we still have nothing to show - but he stated that it was AN OPEN INVITATION...I don't know about you but that got me excited a bit... anyway, keep up the good work everybody, I'd love to hear more about what each of you is working on in general and what you're doing RIGHT NOW for it...you can email me or post...please? I'm extremely anxious and curious. Oded.

Ok,ok,ok i am new here but right off the bat, teaseing the audience is foreplay . Ok ,ok Lets say the trailer was small clips of reactions of fear ,wonder, confusion (closeups good) horrified etc. ,starting slow and speeding up with a propely selected sound track as well as the sound of a persons heart beat added, faster ,faster, faster clips and then what about if we could get a famous director to turn into a camera and say "its coming" BANG . Black background fade in small letters "to a theatre near you" ALSO because i am ahead of myself here we some how get a big name to add THEIR scene and hence we have a name attatched to turn some heads ,how hard could it be to talk some great director into helping a great film project like this ,seeing as this is where they probably started from.Think of it as Wayne Gretzsky haveing his picture taken with a minor leage hockey team. Just an idea and heh maybe some one out there knows somebody that knows somebody? Joe

Hi Joe, your idea sounds interesting and of course I also believe that having a famous director or movie persona help out in advertising the project would be incredibly beneficial...HOWEVER...I have no idea how to get in touch with someone who "really matters"...I am trying to anyway for a few other projects I'm working on (yes yes, apparently we can have a life outside the coming project...) so if I'll get lucky I will ask for their help with this project also, I hope everyone else here will do the same, who knows? maybe we'll get lucky. But I'm also not so sure how I feel about creating this trailer now when the project is still an infant...maybe when we'll have something to show for it it'll be easier. I'm working on an interesting trailer myself, I'm getting my XL1 on Sunday so I guess I'll shoot whatever I need throughout the week and then send it to everyone here...this one will be more of a "what this project it" kind of trailer rather than dealing too much with the substance (because we don't have any right now...). Oded.
